Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Shift: 8hrs (Mon-Fri)
Duration: 13 week
Location: Abilene, TX
Job Summary:
As a Radiation Therapist, you will be responsible for administering radiation therapy treatments to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist. Your main goal will be to accurately deliver the prescribed dose of radiation to target areas while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissues.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Reviewing patient charts and treatment plans to ensure accurate delivery of radiation therapy.
2. Operating and maintaining radiation therapy equipment, such as linear accelerators and CT simulators.
3. Positioning patients for treatment and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
4. Monitoring and recording patient reactions and progress during treatment sessions.
5. Collaborating with radiation oncologists and other members of the healthcare team to develop and update treatment plans.
6. Educating patients and their families about the treatment process and possible side effects.
7. Following all safety protocols and procedures to minimize radiation exposure risks to patients and staff.
8. Maintaining accurate treatment records and documentation.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Completion of an accredited radiation therapy program.
2. ARRT certification in radiation therapy.
3. State licensure as a radiation therapist.
4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in treatment delivery.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
7. Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and procedures.
8. Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
